Had your Phil yet?

"Usher, can you get Phil down here, NOW!!!"
- R. Nelly

I have nothing to say about the firing of Cavalier’s coach Paul Silas. Absolutely nothing.

Why?

‘Cause I’m different.

For over a day now, I’ve been looking for something NEW to say about Silas’ firing. I’ve read all the reports. I’ve heard all the opinions. I’ve even seen the press conference live.

I’ve weighed them all, measured them, chewed on them and spit them back out all the same.

I’ve heard the comments about Phil Jackson returning to coach the NBA’s best talent LeBron James. Honestly, that’s not news to me. I said this would happen in 2004.

I’ve read all the stuff about Dan Gilbert, the man who forked over $375 million for the Cleveland franchise this season, and part-owner R&B superstar Usher wanting “to get their ‘own people’ in the positions of power,” as one NBA-connoisseur emailed me today.

I’ve heard the comments about Phil Jackson returning from Australia, or whatever other exotic land to which he’s chosen to retire, in order to coach the NBA’s best talent LeBron James.

Honestly, that’s not news to me.

I said this would happen in 2004.

Is it a coincidence that MSNBC’s No. 1 NBA headline reads: “Cavs are perfect fit for Phil” when 68 percent of its 4434 voters agreed that Phil Jackson should be the Cavalier’s head coach after this season?

Just ask Capital One.

Whatever publication that DIDN’T print or broadcast something about the decision impacting LeBron James’ free agency THREE YEARS from now should have an empty beer cup thrown at them.

See ya, Silas! Busin-@$$ as usual in the NBA.

I don’t know why I keep looking to these sites and sports talk radio stations for a fresh, new angle on the topic.

I guess I was under the impression that media outlets were supposed to offer what’s new, not dwell on what’s already been said everywhere else.

It’s like they take what once was gold and poke it, prod it and suck out all its beauty until it’s nothing but pixie dust.

Or something like that.

No matter where I go, it’s always the same script featuring the same sh*t.

But I guess that’s the way the news works, and that’s the way it will always be…until someone gets the balls to go out and do something about it.

So here I am, 28 hours after I first heard the news of Silas’ firing, and I’ve got absolutely nothing to say.

And I’m so d*mn proud of it.
